COMMON PROBLEMS IN COMPOSTING
The most common problem is excess moisture which causes foul odour, flies and production of substances harmful to the plant. If the compost heap is too wet, dig it out completely, then turn it and provide aeration. Add dry leafs and mix it to get a balance of brown and green.
If the compost bin/ heap is too dry it will stop decomposing as the bacteria and fungi responsible for the composting process won't be able to work effectively. Re-wet the heap by watering it.
Organic waste is naturally slightly acidic, can upset the balance which cause the compost heap to become smelly and slow to decompose. It can be controlled by sprinkling ground lime or wood ash.

Collection of Food & Green waste
Food waste, Garden waste, Tree copings, Dry leaves & Twigs.
Segregation of waste
Plastic, Thermocol, Glass, Steel, Foils, Plastic coated sheets, Rubber, Fiber. (To be seperated before Shredding)
The Segregated waste to be mixed with either dry leaves or saw dust (25 to 30%) & Composting culture (for 1 ton waste 1.5 kg's of culture) to be mixed together & shredded.
Straining of food waste
If the incoming food waste is too very watery then the waste needs to be put on a stariner to seperate the water content.
The shredded waste to be put in to the bins provided
Watering & Pocking
Spraying of water (to be on inspecting the dryness in the waste) pocking (to be done from sixth day through the perforation provided).
The sieved compost to be kept for curing for 5-6 days
On completion of 5 to 6 weeks the first bin can be emptied and sieving to be done to get 100% organic free flowing compost.
